2026 Bank Cup Report

2026 Bank Cup Report

Richard Kendall10 Jun - 22:45

Club XI beat Bank Blitz by 2 wickets. Successful women's training session.

We beat the weather on 10th June as we hosted the second "Bank Cup", celebrating our history with the Bank of England and ongoing links to the institution. We were known as BOE CC for 116 years after all...

For more information around why we changed the club's name from BOE to West Wimbledon in 2024, please see here.

Club XI vs Bank Blitz (BOE staff)

For the Bank Blitz John Jackson was the only batter to reach the mandatory 25 retirement mark. The team managed 117/8 from 20 overs, with Haris Shahid (3/20) the pick of the figures. Other highlights included two boundary catches for Shak Nawaz, plus a fantastic diving effort from Andrew Merriman on the boundary.

Jivnaz Singh (3/5) ripped through the top order to leave the Club XI reeling at 23/4. Henry Peirse reached the 25 mandatory retirement, as did Mark Streather, but a John Jackson diving one hander to dismiss Arin Gramopadhe turned the tide. Another wicket from penultimate ball meant that Peirse was able to go back out needing to score three runs from the final ball. A huge 6 over square leg followed as the Club XI ran out narrow winners in a memorable game.

Women's XI Training Session

The new Women's team continues to go from strength to strength, with players enjoying a training session led by Emily Marsh. This was on at the same time as the men's game and it was fantastic to see everyone mixing afterwards.

It was a brilliant night with some great cricket - well done West Wimbledon CC a.k.a the artist formerly known as BOE CC.
