The West Wimbledon CC member of the month award is presented to someone who has gone above and beyond in their recent contribution to the club. It's just one way of celebrating all the things our members do that make our club a fantastic community. Anyone in the club can nominate someone - look out for a Boundary Buzz email asking for this next time! The Management Committee then choose from those nominations.

The winner for February 2026 is David Friar.

Ahead of every season most clubs know they might need to sign up some new players and WWCC is no different. It could be a person who can smash runs for the 1st XI, or someone who can help us in our mission to reform the 4th XI. Regardless of cricketing ability, we welcome all potential new players into the club. Recruitment isn't always easy and often the best method is via word of mouth with friends, family, colleagues etc.

David has been busy over the winter helping to recruit from within his workplace at the Bank of England. This has resulted in several newcomers attending training sessions already and it has been fantastic to see some new people. Hopefully many will go on to sign up as fully fledged members of the club and go on to play for us in the summer.

There is extra significance for WWCC when it comes to newcomers from the Bank of England, given that for 116 years we were named after the institution. Continuing the affiliation helps to reflect our fine history and ensure ongoing links for many years to come.
