The West Wimbledon CC member of the month award is presented to someone who has gone above and beyond in their recent contribution to the club. It's just one way of celebrating all the things our members do that make our club a fantastic community. Anyone in the club can nominate someone - look out for a Boundary Buzz email asking for this next time! The Management Committee then choose from those nominations.

The winner for June 2026 is James Gawn.

The 1st XI played at home vs Chessington on 6th June and there was a distressing incident when an opposition player was hit by the ball. This caused the game to be stopped as there was significant bleeding with the player also slipping in and out of consciousness.

James Gawn was exceptional throughout the incident and acted immediately to contact the ambulance service and then remained the central point of contact throughout the next 45 minutes. This included helping to coordinate events, provide updates, and ensure that the player received the care he needed from the emergency services. His calmness, compassion, and leadership in a difficult situation were truly outstanding.

The injured player and Chessington CC were both especially grateful for James' actions in particular and noted their thanks after the game. The injured player is now recovering well in no small part thanks to James.
