The West Wimbledon CC member of the month award is presented to someone who has gone above and beyond in their recent contribution to the club. It's just one way of celebrating all the things our members do that make our club a fantastic community. Anyone in the club can nominate someone - look out for a Boundary Buzz email asking for this next time! The Management Committee then choose from those nominations.

The winner for October 2025 is Richard Kendall.

For the past year Richard has led discussions with Wimbledon Rugby Club for a long term agreement to use the ground. This was finally achieved in October 2025 and allows us to plan for the future, grow our membership, and invest in better facilities for everyone involved with West Wimbledon CC. It is a major milestone in the club's development and provides us with a secure base going forwards.

Our first step in building towards the future is installing an NTP (non-turf pitch a.k.a. astroturf wicket) to create a second cricket square. This will be used for the 3rd XI and 4th XI, Women's XI and various junior teams and will be a brilliant addition to the ground. In October Richard secured a generous £10,000 grant towards this from the Surrey Cricket Foundation as part of the ECB County Grant scheme. This grant will go a long way towards financing the cost of the project, which is vitally important when we are dependent on sourcing as many external revenue streams as possible.

Elsewhere in October, Richard organised the club end of season dinner and awards night, held at AFC Wimbledon. This was a well received new venue and was reflected by the highest number of attendees at the event since pre-covid in 2019.

It may no longer be the summer, but for some there isn't really an off-season!
