Why does a qualification help?
Most of us have taken a turn at umpiring or scoring for a few overs while our team is batting. Some of us enjoy that more than others. But surveys consistently show that players enjoy the game more when there are properly trained officials running the game. The decisions are on average more accurate, and there is more confidence that they are being made fairly.
For some players, officiating can also be a good way to stay involved if injured. For many, officiating is something to consider when you approach retirement from play. Others believe that they can go further in the game as an official. Whatever your motivation, WWCC would love to have more trained officials.
