Senior Cricket Last Week (29 June - 5 July):
- 1st XI lost vs Walton on Thames by 64 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 8 Central.
Matt Bartlett was impressive with 3/28 but couldn’t stop the opposition racking up 230 all out. The game was in the balance at 159/5 thanks to Max Manley’s first club 50….but a sudden collapse saw the last 5 wickets go for just 7 runs.- 2nd XI lost vs Esher by 146 runs in a friendly owing to a break in league action.
Umang Patel claimed 3/34 but they smashed an imposing 244/8. Andrew Hunnable whacked 38 but we couldn’t live with the scoreboard pressure and folded to 98 all out. - 3rd XI lost vs Old Wimbledonians by 52 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 12 East Central.
Steve Kidnee (3/11) was the pick of the figures as the opposition were kept to 161 all out. At 53/1 the chase was on….only for a monumental collapse of 8 wickets for just 19 runs. Last man Oliver Johnson top scored with 22 but it wasn’t to be this time.- Sunday XI lost vs XPSG by 4 runs.
Mo Dilshad (5/8) and Matt Bartlett (3/24) helped reduce the opposition to 64/9, before some late hitting moved the score to 104 all out. WWCC were in a very similar position at 68/9 as last pair Mo Dilshad (34) and Richard Down tried to snatch a famous win. Sadly we came out agonisingly short on 100 all out. - Wild West Dons T20 XI won vs SOAS by 8 wickets in the Surrey Slam group stage.
The opposition were restricted to 137/4 after a fine team effort, which looked to be chasable on the NTP. This proved to be the case with Shak Nawaz (50 retired not out) and James Tait (34 not out) helping to ensure a comfortable win with 6 overs to spare.

Women's Cricket Last Week (29 June - 5 July):
- 1st XI lost vs Overton Park by 5 wickets and vs Ottershaw by 45 runs in a tournament day.
It was first taste of “out when you’re out” cricket for many of our players which took a little bit of getting used to. It was an enjoyable day with everyone contributing at some point, as Abby Mustoe managed a first ever run out, Emily Marsh took a wicket and Bri Graham hit the team’s top score. We are awarded the “fair play” award for the day, emphasising that WWCC always try to play the game in the right spirit.
