Senior Cricket Last Week (13 - 19 July):

  • 1st XI lost vs Sunbury by 3 wickets in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 8 Central.
  • Felix Lamy scored his second ton in a week with a brilliant 110 against a strong bowling attack. This is the first time a 1st XI player has scored consecutive hundreds since all the way back in 2002. It helped the team score a competitive 230/8 from 45 overs. The opposition were 106/5 and struggling, but their skipper turned the game on it's head smashing 68 from 49 balls. WWCC couldn't quite defend the required runs, with Sunbury earning victory with just 2 balls of the match to spare.
  • 2nd XI won vs Malden Wanderers by 35 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 11 East Central.
  • Haris Shahid (33) top scored as WWCC could only total 115 all out against the league leaders. The bowling unit were sensational with wickets shared around as Malden Wanderers could only manage 85 all out.
  • 3rd XI won vs Chessington by 142 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 12 East Central.
  • Jimmy Adamson smashed a brilliant 129 not out, which was the best 3rd XI individual score since 2017. Captain Tom Campbell (80) and Brad Skelly (58 not out) were also in the runs as WWCC posted a mammoth 319/3 from 40 overs. This was the highest team score anywhere in the club since 2002!The opposition could not get anywhere near the total and limped to 177/9, with the evergreen Steve Kidnee (3/13) the pick of the figures.
  • 4th XI lost vs Roehampton by 207 runs.
  • The opposition hammered 291/6 despite an economical 2/23 from Alex Streeter and the WWCC run chase did not go well. A late cameo from Oliver Chadwick (23 not out) could only help the score to 84 all out in a heavy defeat.
  • Sunday XI won vs Flying Tilford by 7 wickets.
  • The opposition smashed a huge 273/4 declared which looked to be a tough ask on yet another hot sunny day. Shiraz Husain returned to hit an unbeaten ton before retiring and at 205/3 the chase was well and truly on. James Gawn (72 not out) took over to hit his first ever half century in a memorable victory.
