Senior Cricket Last Week (18 May - 24 May):
- 1st XI lost vs Ham & Petersham by 5 wickets in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 8 Central.
Felix Lamy (44) top scored with the bat but wickets fell regularly to leave WWCC 128/9. A valuable last wicket partnership from skipper Andrew Merriman and Matt Bartlett took the score to 161 all out to set a reasonable target. Alas, the opposition openers had different ideas as they put on 103 for the first wickets. A fine spell from Max Manley (3/21) made inroads but saldy it was too little too late as the opposition got home with 10 overs to spare.- 2nd XI won vs South London by 103 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 11 East Central.
The opposition surprisingly chose to bowl first in the heat and they surely regretted it as Richard Kendall (58), Ali Glossop (39) and Abhik Mukherjee took the score to 149/2. Some late order hitting saw WWCC rack up 205/7 and confident of victory. South London had some impressive hitters, but they had reckoned without an impeccable catching display from WWCC with Matt Saich's diving one hander a real highlight. Rohit Nag (4/27) and Will Saich (3/40) were brilliant with the ball as the opposition could only reach 103 all out. - 3rd XI won vs South London by 94 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 12 East Central.
Peter Andrews & Mark Hunnable put on 50 for the first wicket, before a mini collapse to 86/4 had WWCC wobbling. Step forwards Max Johnson (55 not out) and Brad Skelly (54 not out) for an unbroken partnership of 114 for a final score of 200/4. In response skipper Simon Eddolls took three catches whilst Mustafa Saqib (3/12) and Oli Johnson (3/17) headed up a fine team bowling performance. Three wins from three in the league which is the first hat trick for any side since the 2023 season. - Sunday XI lost vs Claygate by 7 wickets.
Samuel Chadwick (89) starred with the bat as WWCC amassed 228/7 from 40 overs. The opposition openers proceeded to put on 182 and despite a couple of wickets for Chadwick, squeezed home with 8 balls to spare.- 1st XI T20 lost vs Blue Wings by 75 runs in the League T20 Cup.
Andrew Merriman (3/26) was the pick of the figures as the opposition totalled 162 all out in the knockout competition. Fergus Ainsworth top scored with 20 as WWCC couldn't keep pace and limped to 87 all out.- Bank Blitz won vs HMRC by 6 wickets.
HMRC managed 124/9 from their 20 overs with debutant Sophie Hughes (2/14) particularly impressive. This was especially helpful given there was some confusion when one of our players turned out to be playing for the opposition! In response James Clarke, Josh Kearns and Felix Lamy all reached the 25 and retired mark as WWCC ran out comfortable winners with 5 overs to spare.

- 1st XI won vs Old Rutlishians by 45 runs in Surrey Cricket Championship Tier 2 North.
WWCC batted first on a boiling hot day and posted a mammoth 133/1 from 16 overs for a pairs net score of 333. Liz Harvey led the way with 18 not out, whilst Abby Mustoe (15 not out) ended the innings on a high by smashing the final ball for 6. A pleasing bowling performance saw Harvey and Jayanti Singh pick up wickets as the visitors were restricted to 101/3 from 16 overs for a pairs net score of 288. A first ever league win for our Women's Team and hopefully there are many more to come!
