Senior Cricket Last Week (25 May - 31 May):
- 1st XI lost vs Old Hamptonians by 3 wickets in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 8 Central.
John Jackson (48) held the innings together against an impressive opposition bowling line up as the score reached 167/8. The Old Hamptonians batter ran brilliantly between the wickets, but a fine bowling performance dragged the score back from 73/1 to 136/7 with Max Manley (3/33) the pick of the figures. Unfortunately they batted all the way down and made it home with 6 overs to spare. - 2nd XI lost vs Wandgas by 5 wickets in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 11 East Central.
Numayr Hussain (45), Debarshi Roy (40) and Will Saich (29 not out) helped WWCC post a respectable 175/8. Momentum swung both ways in the second innings but the opposition ran out narrow winners by 5 wickets with just 5 balls to spare. - 3rd XI lost vs Surrey Titans by 9 wickets in Surrey Cricket Championship Division 12 East Central.
It wasn't a good day at the office as WWCC could only manage 103 all out with extras top scoring. The Surrey Titans openers turned out to be a bit good as they knocked off the chase in just 7.3 overs with some seriously impressive ball striking.- Sunday XI lost vs Merton by 77 runs.
The opposition scored 178 all out in an innings which was notable for Mo Dilshad claiming a remarkable 1000th wicket for the club. At the other end of the scale young Haydn Wilkes took his first ever senior wickets - the road to 1000 begins now! At 92/4 the game was evenly poised, but top scorer Matt Bartlett (24) was then out. This led to five consecutive WWCC ducks for the lower order, including a hat trick for the opposition, with the score finishing on 101 all out. - Wild West Dons lost vs Hampton Hill by 39 runs in the Surrey Slam group stages.
The first ball was hit for 6 by the opposition and it didn't get much better as the score raced to 212/6 from 20 overs, although there was two boundary catches and a run out for Rich Kendall. The WWCC batting effort was valiant as Samuel Chadwick (50 not out) and Shak Nawaz (43) helped the side to a best score in this competition since 2023. Alas it was not enough as 173/2 fell comfortably short.
