3. President

We elect an Honorary President to act as a ambassador for the club on a singular three year basis. This individual is a stalwart who has made a significant contribution in the past, and we should be enormously thankful for the amount of hard work and dedication they have put in over the years. Our annual Presidents Day event in August celebrates this and other longstanding members of the club..

2026 - 2028 President - John Kendall

John started playing for the Club in the mid 1980’s, and he was a member of the touring party to Australia in 1987. He has also frequented the annual tours to Kent, Gloucester and of course, the ongoing annual trip to Buckinghamshire.

Primarily a wily slow right arm bowler, known for his excessive flight and guile, John took over 300 wickets and scored more than 2,000 runs. Those figures are of course an understatement, as some of the scorebooks from his “golden years” (his words) have never made it on to the Play Cricket site where our records are maintained.

In his 40 year involvement with the Club he has spent almost three decades on the Management Committee in various roles. These have included Vice-Chair, Assistant Treasurer, Representative to the BOE Sports Club Committee, Captain and Vice Captain of the 3.5th & 4th XIs, and most recently as Chair of the Marketing and Fundraising Committee.

John has also been involved with organising the annual tour to Buckinghamshire for many years, and he captained the Veterans team on both the BOE Governor's Day and it's spiritual successor, President's Day. He also helped organise the Club’s cricket week during the BOE Tercentenary Celebrations in 1994.

John has many fantastic memories from his time spent playing cricket for the Club. In addition his off field highlights include (1) being presented to Princess Anne at a function in the City who thanked him for his charitable fund raising efforts on behalf of the Club, and (2) a surreal meeting in the BOE Governors office with Mervyn King and Graham Hick when they were discussing setting up the Chance to Shine Cricket Charity.

John recently donated a set of gates to the club at the 2026 AGM on behalf of himself as President, his son Richard (Club Chair) and daughter Emma (Women's 1st XI Captain). The gates are to celebrate the 2024 name change to West Wimbledon Cricket Club, and to commemorate the history of the Bank of England Cricket Club.
